Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CauseAndCorrelation (the "Service"), operated by Andre Turrettini ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What the Service is
CauseAndCorrelation lets you track daily habits and results side by side and computes statistical correlations between them — effect sizes, significance, and lag (delayed-effect) detection. It's a personal self-tracking tool, not a medical device, diagnostic service, or professional advisory service.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You need an account, created via a third-party sign-in provider (see our Privacy Policy), to use the Service. You're responsible for maintaining control of that provider account, and for all activity that happens under your CauseAndCorrelation account as a result. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
3. Your content and data
You own the questions you write and the answers you log. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that data back to you, and to compute correlation results from it, solely to operate the Service for you. We don't claim ownership of your content, and we don't use it to train AI models or for advertising (see the Privacy Policy for the full detail on data use).
You're responsible for what you log. Don't enter anything you don't have the right to share (for example, someone else's private health information), and don't use question or study names to harass, impersonate, or mislead anyone if you ever export or share a result.
Templates you submit for the public library. If you submit one of your studies as a template (subject to admin review before it's published), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish it in the public template library and let other users clone it into studies of their own. Once published, that template stops being exclusively yours: other users who clone it own their resulting copy outright, we may keep it available even if you later delete the original study or your account, and we may edit, decline, or remove a submitted template from the public library at our discretion.
4. Not medical advice
CauseAndCorrelation shows correlation, not causation — a strong link means two things tend to move together, not that one causes the other. Nothing in the Service is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare provider. Always talk to a doctor before making health decisions, including ones based on patterns you notice here.
5. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Try to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts or data, or the systems behind it.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service (e.g. overloading it, scraping it at scale, or attempting to bypass rate limits or authentication).
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to store or transmit malicious code.
- Reverse-engineer the Service beyond what applicable law expressly permits.
We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate this section.
6. Optional AI assistant connections
You may optionally connect a study to Claude or another MCP-compatible AI assistant to ask about your own data conversationally. This is opt-in, per study, and read-only. You're responsible for how you use any AI assistant you connect, and for reviewing that assistant provider's own terms — we don't control, and aren't responsible for, how a third-party assistant interprets or responds to your data.
7. The Service as-is, and changes to it
CauseAndCorrelation is currently offered free of charge. We may add, change, or remove features, and may introduce paid plans in the future — if we do, we'll tell you before anything you're already using starts requiring payment. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that correlation results will be accurate or complete for your particular situation.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CauseAndCorrelation and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any decision you make based on a correlation result it shows you. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (which, for the free tier, is $0).
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time, and can request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service (or parts of it) with reasonable notice where practical.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (e.g. by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
